Christmas time is always busy – this time another topic kept me even more busy. And that was the release of KDE 4.10 RC1. If you have some spare time you are invited to run a test drive. KDE is running an extra detailed beta-testing program throughout the 4.10 beta and RC releases. For many distributions, updating is quite simple.

If you do, I am happy to read your comments. While you test, I am doing media player compatibility tests, this time with Tomahawk.
Have a nice test drive,
Christian

I test it since the first beta on Chakra, it’s really stable and the promise to have the best environment never released is around the corner

Hi Christian, doing the tests, submitting bug reports and mainly hoping that the one with the pulse audio streams is working. There are working patches on the bug tracker, I don’t know if you had the time to test them yet and see (since you know the code) whether they are doing a silly workaround or the right thing. But this would be something nice to have in upstream RC2, so people can test it before the actual release is coming.
Anyway, thanks already for your great work, happy new year and maybe see you again next year in Randa

Thanks for the test. The fix for the Pulseaudio streams is top priority for RC2. I plan to do that as soon as the “Christmas Cleanup” is done.

Is there any Live Cd available?
Posted by beylix on December 28, 2012 at 3:39 pm
I am not aware of any live CD. If you do not want to risk too much and only update a single application like KMix, you can sometimes do that using special package repositories, like the ones from openSUSE or Project Neon for (K)Ubuntu.

Can you please remove the streams on the main popup by default?

No. I intend to follow the Sound Menu proposal (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoundMenu). On other desktops you cannot even configure it.

That is not a bug. Changing the master channel does not mean to change the output device.

Well, add a better way to change the output device and switch to HDMI Audio.
ps: but I can’t switch the output device.
